Personal Project on the Way
I’ve been working on a personal mini-doc this week. It will post to my new personal web site when it’s finished. The piece focuses on a few of my friends at Blackbird Coffee in the small town where I now live. Everything was shot on my Canon C300.
There’s a big-name coffee chain here, too, but the folks at Blackbird blow them out of the water. They roast their beans in small batches every couple of days so the coffee tastes fantastic. The film will show that process in action.
I love the artisanal, local approach they have and the look and tactile nature of the roaster itself—which is front and center as you walk in the door. I knew I wanted to roll film on it the first time I saw it.
I’ve got a couple of interviews to shoot this weekend, and then I’ll start editing in earnest. I hope to have it finished within the next week or so, so please stay tuned.
EDIT: The film has now been completed! Please let us know what you think of it:
